Building Update: The New Bow-Wow Boutique
The New Thrift Shop is open for business!
What can 2,000 square feet of new Thrift Shop space do? It can raise over 20% of our operating budget each year to support the thousands of animals that come to the shelter. Yes, twenty cents of every dollar needed to fund surgeries including spay/neuter, purchase vaccines and testing kits/supplies, pay expensive utility and insurance bills, provide daily TLC, and all that goes into care for the animals.
The New Thrift Shop is bright and beautiful. Carol Foltz, our Thrift Shop Manager, and her team of one part-time assistant manager and 30 volunteers have worked hard to move operations into the new space at the facility. It had been a crazy nine months of keeping the old shop operating during temporary entrances, construction noise and limited ability to accept donations due to stroage limitations. Now all of that is behind us and we will be conervting the old Thrift Shop into new animal space. Carol can return her focus to raising money to continue the shelter's mission to rescue and care for unwanted, abandoned, abused and sick animals and to the adoption of these animals to responsible, loving homes.
We thank everyone who has driven around with donations in their cars while we endured construction delays. We also send our appreciation to everyone who takes time from their schedules and battles traffic to bring donations to the thrift shop and to shop at the store.
If you haven't ever been to the Thrift Shop, you are missing something very special. The store sells nearly new (and sometimes brand new) merchandise in the following departments: Housewares, Books/Video/Audio books, Men and Womens clothing from petite to plus sizes(fitting room available), Decorations, Shoes, Accessories: Belts, Purses, Hats, Jewelry and Collectibles, Linens, Seasonal/Holiday, and Crafts.

Now that construction has almost been completed at the shelter, every shopper is greeted by cats in our new free-roaming cat room. The cats welcome shoppers through large windows, as they enjoy sunlight in the front of the building. The cats are a constant reminder to shoppers that their purchases support the care of the animals at the shelter.
