Adopted: March 5, 2008 - Charlie (formerly Hobbes)

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to give you an update on Charlie (Hobbes). He's doing really well. Everyone who meets him just thinks he's the cutest thing. Our other dog Kerry seems to really like playing with him but does take a well deserved break from him sometimes! You should see him run in the backyard. He is so fast. He actually leaps when he gets going! He is great with the girls and is learning which toys are theirs and which are his. We are working on stay and come commands and walking on a leash. He's a wonderful addition to our family and we love him bunches!
Adopted: November 2, 2007 - Hagan (formerly Nikko) (update)

Hello Jersey Shore Animal Center!
Just an update on Hagan (aka: Nikko). He is a VERY BIG boy now. We joke he must be part dinosaur. He is a little over 100 lbs, (don't get worried he's not overweight), the vet says he should stay where he's at now. He goes for walks a lot and to the dog park often. He plays with all sorts of dogs from very small to large and hasn't met another dog he doesn't get along with. His best friend is a pit bull Rufus and he even has a German Shepherd girlfriend Lola. He truly is a gentle giant. I cannot tell you how happy I am with him. His personality is amazing. I have had several Shepherds in my lifetime but Hagan is truly one in a million. He is the first male I have ever owned and I can say this, he is a talker! Wow! Anyway I have attached some new photos of him, and his cat Luna, they are now 'friends'? She lets him know who is boss... hey, she was here first! He loved the snow, and also his new pair of Doggles. They use them in Iraq with military K9s to protect against sun/sand. Well, thanks again for my new best friend!
Nicole
Adopted: February 16, 2008 - Rocky

Thanks again- Jim and Maria P.
Adopted: February 26, 2008 - Tigger (formerly Mack)

Hi, I adopted the orange kitten "Mack" from your shelter a couple of days ago. He is a pleasure to have. He has been renamed Tigger. He's adjusted very well to his new home and as you can see from the pictures, he gets along very well with the other kitten we adopted from North Shore a few weeks back. Thank you for allowing him to be part of our family.

Hello all!
I thought I'd send along a photo of Brooke, renamed Coco, in her new home. She's adjusting quite well. She's been a wonderful addition to our family and we love her. I feel very lucky to have found her. Thank you!! I'll send more photos soon.
Maeve Mars
Adopted: May 19, 2006 - Lillie May (formerly Lily), Princess (formerly Sadie) - February 2, 2006

The girls are doing great ! As you can see, they are very spoiled. Princess is content being on someone's lap, having her belly rubbed and dressing up!
Lillie is a little imp! She and buddy can't decide who is the cat and who is the dog. She loves to scratch on the bottom of Buddy's Condo. Buddy and Lillie have no clue that they are suppose to be natural enemies. Lillie is our Mischief maker of the two. We are kept well entertained.
Our girls are the best gift that God has given to me, almost 2 years ago.
Best wishes
Jen B.
Adopted: October 6, 2005 - Mooch (formerly Mander) (update)
Hi, all,
A little over two years ago we adopted Mooch (formerly Mander) as a playmate for our other young kitty, Dillinger. We just wanted to let you know that the boys are doing great and have really bonded with one another. Here is a picture of them enjoying a "dryer ride" (while our older kitty, Rosie, enjoys some peace and quiet elsewhere).

Adopted: November 2, 2007 - Hagan (formerly Nikko)

Here is a picture of Nikko AKA (HAGAN) at his new home.
He is getting used to his new surroundings, and learning a lot
of new things. His new cat is not sure yet how she feels, but I'm sure in time she will come around. Thank you for all of your
help. He is a handsome gentleman isn't he?

Adopted: November 11, 2006 - Barry (update)

I thought you would enjoy seeing a picture of Barry as Captain Jack Sparrow. He has come a long way in a year. As you can see he has become quite the ham too. We never have had a pet that is as loving and affectionate as he is. We have to convince him though that he is not a lap dog! At night while we are watching tv, he climbs into my husband’s lap, rolls over on his back like a baby and gets his belly scratched (By the way my husband loves this). And in case you were wondering, yes he still loves to play fetch. As soon as we go out the back door, he grabs his toy and is ready to play. Again, we would like to thank you for allowing us to make Barry a part of our family.

Adopted: September 8, 2007 - China

Hi,
I had written letting you know that China was doing very well at her new home. I wanted to share a few pictures with you. One is of China with my two boys and the other is just of China being held. She is a sweetie and so gentle. She gets out quite a bit to roam around outside the playpen we have. She loves to explore!
I let everyone know I adopted her from the shelter. Most people are surprised that you guys have rabbits.
Sandy
Adopted: August 9, 2004 - Oliver

Meow to all,
It's been 3 years now since I was adopted by my human, Sandy Jeffries. I was relinquished to your shelter in April 2004 because my previous owners said they had to take in an elderly relative who was allergic to cats.
In early August 2004, Sandy saw my picture on the petfinder Web site and immediately fell in love with me. Well, why wouldn't she fall in love me? I'm a handsome male orange tabby! At the time, it was questionable as to whether she could adopt me because she lives in Massachusetts. Within 24 hours of completing the application and getting references from her veterinarian, she was was told that I was hers!!! On August 4, she drove almost 400 miles from Massachusetts to pick me up.
I'm now 7 years old and have a great companion, Smokey (also 7)-- another handsome male smokey-grey tabby shelter cat whom Sandy adopted last year to keep me company. We love each other and are the best of friends! I'm attaching a couple of pictures of me and Smokey. As you can see, we are very close!
Hugs and purrs,
Oliver
(As dictated to my human -- well, what did you expect from a feline -- we tell our owners what to do, not the other way around!)
Adopted: January 2006 - Star

Dear JSAC staff,
I am writing to update you on the adoption of my dog
Star. We adopted Star from you in January of 2006 and she
has just been the best! She fits right into our house and
adds so much joy to our lives! We kept her name from the
shelter because it had a very special meaning to me. When I
was about nine years old I got every child's dream- a puppy
for christmas. She was a female german shepheard and we
were inseperable. When I was away at college she past away
and it just broke my heart. A year later I was reading the
newspaper and saw the JSAC ad of featured pets for adoption.
My heart almost stopped because there was a picture of a
female german shepheard that looked exactly like my old dog
Star. As I read further, I saw that not only did she look
like my old dog but her name was Star as well. We had to go
and see her and when we did she just melted my heart. She
is now a happy, healthy 2 year old who is a ball of energy.
She brings such joy to our lives and I want to thank the
JSAC staff for the great job that you do!
Sincerely,
Tamara C.
Adopted: August 10th, 2007 - Smooch

Just wanted to let you know how much we LOVE Smooch! Tony and he are getting along really well and Smooch has taken to all of us. We took him to our vet and all was great - he checked deep in his ears and said all was well. He's really quite a character. When he stood up on his hind legs and began to clap we fell on the floor. THANK YOU!

Adopted: April 2007 - Toby (formerly Mason)
Hi everyone (and especially Barbara),
We can't thank you enough for bringing Toby into our lives. While we adopted Toby in April 2007, we wanted to write you all a letter and send pictures but were waiting for a special occasion. This past Sunday, Toby graduated from the Hungry Puppy Basic Obedience class. We are so proud :)
As you all remember, Toby came to us afraid of everything!! This included cars, walks on the street and even cats. To say now that Toby LOVES walks and the outdoors is an understatement.
He wakes us at a brisk 5:30 a.m. in order to begin his day, which includes a walk around the block. Only to be followed by 5 hours of straight napping.
Toby wanted to send his regards and wishes you and all his former roommates the best.
Thank you again for our very special puppy!

Adopted: June 5, 2006 - Gunner

Adopted: May 11, 2007 - Spanky

Just dropping a quick note on Spanky. We adopted her @ JSAC on May 11 when she was 8 weeks old. She is growing an inch a week, and @ 3 months she is now all legs. The Shepherd is coming through big time. She still has her gray eyes, and so many people just stop to play with her and comment on what a unique dog she is! She is friendly with everyone, and is just a healthy, happy, wild Jack Russell. Spanky has been enjoying her summer vacations with us, attached are some pictures. Our older dog Brindle, and Spanky are inseparable now. Brindle demonstrates the fine art of swimming, coming when called, and pooping in the proper area, and Spanky just loves to do everything Brindle does.
Hope you had a happy 4th. Will keep in touch. Dana M.
Update: Adopted March 9, 2007 - Roxy

Hello to our friends at the Jersey Shore Animal Shelter!!! Roxy is absolutely the most wonderful friend and companion. I couldn't be happier with her... She watches over my lil guy as if he was her own pup, guards the home from all squirrels and occasionally the mail man, however she's quite fond of the UPS man... Thank you for helping Roxy come into our lives to become part of our family...
Adopted: May 9, 2007 - Weezer

Hi there, I just have to send this e-mail to thank you for this amazing cat!!! We adopted him only yesterday (May 9, 2007) and he is already a much loved and well-adjusted member of the family. He is wonderful with the kids and gets along just fine with the dog, neither animal has so much as batted an eyelash at each other. My children are ecstatic, and so am I. They told us we were getting a great cat when we picked him up, and they were absolutely right. Thank you so much to everyone who tested the cats and helped to decide that Weezer would be the right one for us. He is truly a gift and we are so happy to have him in our home.
Sincerely,The H.'s

Adopted: November 11, 2006 - Barry

We adopted Barry back in November and wanted to let you know he is doing great! Upon your recommendation we took him to Kindred Souls for classes and he graduated 2nd in his class, this even surprised the instructor, who knew Barry at the shelter. All this beautiful dog needed was a little TLC. He still loves to fetch and would play 24/7 if he could. The picture we enclosed is of Barry after a romp at the dog beach in Manasquan. We always get compliments on how beautiful he is and how well behaved. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to adopt Barry.
Sincerely,
Joe, Paula and Steven B.
Adopted: February 28, 2007 - Sylvia
Update: Adopted: October 2004 - Xena

Hi All! Just an update on Xena... We adoped Xena in October 2004 and can't tell you how happy we are that she is part of our family. She recently had surgery to fix a torn CCL (she tore her knee while jumping after a squirrel!) and she is recovering beautifully. She wasn't thrilled wearing her "lampshade" for two weeks but she did well. She is looking forward to a fun summer filled with boating, swimming and hiking. I'm enclosing a picture of her with her lampshade, the sad little baby.
Thanks to all of you,
Danette & David
Updated: Adopted February 24th, 2007 - Shaggy
Adopted March 5, 2005 - Midnight (formerly Roo)

Hi everyone! We are so happy to have Shaggy (1 year old Jack Russell Terrier) as the newest member of our family. He has fit right in - he loves pets especially belly rubs. He is a "pet me" lap dog - ready or not he's in your lap and you better be ready to pet him. Two years ago we adopted Midnight - she is now 3 yrs old. She and Shaggy are doing great together! They LOVE TO WRESTLE making little growls all the while tails wagging like crazy. Shaggy was a little hyper when we first got him but he has calmed down now that he is familiar with him new home. He's our "Little Man".
We have included some of our favorite pictures to share with you.
Thanks again for letting us add these two great pets to our family.

Adopted February 1, 2006 - Shadow (formerly Nala 2)
Hi, I’m now Shadow. It has been one year since I was adopted. Thought I would let you know I’m doing fine.
Sometimes I nap in the fruit basket! Sometimes there is even fruit in it! Thanks for being there when I needed you, Shadow Colvin
Ignatius Yuckel (formerly Salem) - Adopted August 3, 2006
Stewey Mulligan (formerly T. Rubble) - Adopted August 25, 2006

Stewey and Iggy became fast friends and have changed our tears to laughter as we watch them play and cuddle together. Though their personalities are very different, they complement each other beautifully. Iggy's hilarious mischief and Stewey's sweet affection keep us busy and happy every day. And although we will always miss our dear departed cats, we have rediscovered the wonder of youth in our home.
Thank you to all at the Jersey Shore Animal Center who helped with the adoption. From the caring staff, to the foster parents who raised the kittens, to the volunteers who socialized them before we brought them home, everyone was so kind and helpful throughout the adoption process. Thanks to all of your efforts, we are a happy family again!

Adopted January 16, 2007 - Gracie

Dear Susan, Pat and the Jersey Shore Animal Center Staff,
We just want to thank you for all you do and for the wonderful care you gave
Gracie before we were blessed to have her in our lives. We were set on
adopting a kitten and when I visited your shelter, I was struck by Gracie.
You were right...she is a bundle of love. My husband and I lost a very
special kitty that we had for 13 years. Our hearts were broken and we
wanted very much to hear little feet in our home again.
Gracie warmed up to both of us within 3 HOURS! We couldn't believe it. She
started head butting us and rolling on her back for belly rubs by the end of
the night. She wouldn't stop rubbing her face into ours! We feel so
incredibly lucky to have found her. As you can see in the photos (taken
only after being with us for 4 days, she fits right in and she loves her
daddy too! I may have competition! Ha! She is a pure joy and we are so
taken by her affectionate ways. We already love her dearly!
We wish you more success in all that you do for these wonderful animals.
Gracie sends her love and a hello!
Fondly,
Laurie and Markus, Manchester, NJ
Update February 2007: Adopted November 2005 - Lady
Hi JSAC,
Just a little update, this is Lady, we adopted her November of 2005. She is now 13 years young!! She is such a great dog, how anyone could have ever given her up is beyond me. She is such a love. Thank you again for giving us the chance to adopt such a great dog.
The Salsano Family
Adopted: October 2003 - Rugby and February 2004 - Brinnie

We adopted Rugby (nickname: Rug-a-bug) in October of 2003 and Brinnie (nickname: Pretty Brinnie) in February of 2004. Rugby is going to be 3 and Brinnie will be 10 this year. I cannot think of anything that has made us happier than adopting these two dogs. They have become the spoiled babies of the house and love their huge collection of toys. Rugby is the excited, energetic dog and Brinnie is the calm one that has sudden bursts of energy. They are the best dogs we could ever ask for. It breaks my heart that Brinnie had to be without a home for two years before we adopted her. Also, Brinnie now has two brand new knees, both of them began to bother her and she needed to have surgery but she gets around like a young pup again and as we say, she "runs like a little bullet". We all want to thank you for taking care of both of these dogs and bringing them into our lives!

Adopted: August 26, 2006 - Sylvester

My name is Calandra S. and I adopted Sylvester as a volunteer this past summer. I met Sylvester while volunteering and fell in love. I love animals, especially cats, and I plan to work with them as a future career. When I chose to volunteer at the shelter, I had no intentions of taking home a new pet. I loved all of the cats there, but something about Sylvester stood out. He was an adorablely overweight cat who slept almost the whole time I was there. He did not like the other cats and would swat at them as they walked past. The other volunteers saw him as a grumpy, fat cat; but I saw a potential best friend. As I came to the shelter more and more, Sylvester began to recognize me and my voice and would get up to greet me when I entered the cat room. He started to let me pet him and a special bond was formed. I began fantasizing about taking him home. I already have four cats at my mom's house and we could not gain any others, but my dad did not have any pets at his house. I realized that it would be a perfect place for Sylvester because he would not be bothered by other pets. After a lot of convincing, my dad agreed to adopt Sylvester for me. Now, Sylvester is very happy living with my dad and I. I adopted Sylvester for the cat he was at the shelter, but I never expected such an extrordinary change in character. He is the cutest, funniest, loudest, most affectionate, and playful cat I have ever owned. He never used to want to play at the shelter, but now he is very agressive with string toys and he likes to chase golfballs. He purrs like a motorboat at the sound of his name and is very verbal when he wants attention. I don't think Sylvester has lost any noticeable weight, remaining 19 solid pounds, but he goes up and down the stairs (a bit akwardly) constantly. My Dad and Sylvester have also formed a special bond. My dad is very happy to have him around. Sylvester has exceeded my expectations as a pet and I love him so much. He was the lift I needed and he never fails to make me smile and laugh. I wanted to let everyone at the shelter know that he is doing extremely well/better. :-)
Adopted: October 13, 2006 - Matthew

I adopted Matthew on 10/13/06, partly for me, partly to give a shelter kitty a home and partly so my 18 year old cat would have company during the day while I'm at work. I kept his name as Matthew as he is definitely a "Matthew", which means he is the sweetest, most adorable, lovable part-time trouble maker! Scrolling throuh the petfinder site Matt's sweet face jumped right out at me, out of all the cats on there, his was special to me. Matthew and Tasha are still adjusting as Tasha was the only cat for 18 years and is an old cranky lady, but Matthew is being patient and is so sweet with her. Matthew has been wonderful, I have no idea how this sweet kitty wasn't adopted until I found him, but I am blessed with 2 great cats now! Thank you!

Adopted: December 29, 2005 - Bear

We adopted Bear a year ago and she has made us very happy. She is the sweetest dog and has so much love to give. She is always smiling and brightens up our day. She is a perfect fit into our family. Thank you very much!

Adopted: September 15, 2006 - Angel (formerly Demi)

Hello,
I adopted Demi on September 15th and have changed her name to ANGEL. She is the sweetest, most energetic little girl and we love her. She has adapted well to our home and her new best Friend Brinkley, our 9 year old male cat. He has been very good as well and they play together now.
Thank you so much for taking such good care of her for the 1st 4 months!

Adopted: September 19, 2006 - Trevor

We are the Bazydlo family. We adopted Trevor (we decide to keep that name) on September 19, 2006. My kids aged 4 and 6 love him. He became a fast member of the family. He has adapted well like he has been here for a while. My kids run in the yard and the house with him and they throw his ball to him and he runs back and drops it at their feet for them to throw it again. Even though it has only been 1 day he has adapted well with the family. He has a lot of love here now and forever. So here is the 1st picture of him in his new home.
We will send you updates on how Trevor is doing along with pictures.

Adopted: August 31, 2006 - Piglet (formerly Giselle)

How can I begin? Every time we visited the Petfinder website, our eyes always went to this cat, it was as if she knew we were looking and was trying to say come get me. After our first meeting I thought she would be perfect, so i adopted her. Little did I know the storm of affection this little girl was about to unleash on us. After the initial shock of new surroundings wore off, she could not get enough of our attention and we found her following us everywhere. Now (a week later) she is settled in and it's as if she had been here for years, what a great addition to our little family. She greets us at the door when we get home from work and is around us until bedtime. At first I was looking for a kitten, but now I am so glad that I adopted an adult, she is everything we could ever hope for in a cat and will be with us for a long long time.
With great thanks,
Jay & Tara
Adopted: September 2002

In September 2002, Pat visited Jersey Shore Animal Center following what she has called, “an interest in a little white dog.” Not having been a dog owner previously, (only cats and birds) she found this increasing interest intriguing. So, one afternoon on her lunch hour, she visited JSAC to look around. There she saw a small, white dog with an underbite, big fluffy tail, and pink nose. When meeting the shy dog, she received a “growl”, but felt a connection.
Later that day, she talked with her daughter, Linda, who lived with her at the time, about this pup. Linda thought it would be great to have a dog, having just lost her beloved cat of 19 years to old age. So, the next day, Pat, the first-time dog adopter, brought Daisy home, and when Linda arrived home from work, Pat met her at the door with Daisy in her arms. From that moment on, life with Miss Daisy was never dull!
With a love of snuggling and chewing, walking and car rides, Miss Daisy “trained” Pat and Linda to be a dog parent/sister. Many, many eaten shoes later (and a rug!) the gals adjusted and traveled happily around Point Pleasant. They also frequently visited Nana (Pat’s mom/Linda’s grandmother) in a nursing home in North Jersey. Although Miss D. was only 6-months old, she was a natural there and made many residents happy with her kisses and wet nose. Miss Daisy became a frequent traveler in Linda’s car and was her Saturday errand buddy. Miss D. knew that at the bank drive-thru she would get a biscuit, then, when Linda got coffee at the Dunkin Donuts drive-thru, she’d get a munchkin and then another biscuit at the drive-thru milk store! To this day, a biscuit still appears in Linda’s car, “buried” long ago by Miss Daisy on one of their adventures.
In 2004, Pat and Daisy relocated to Southwest Florida, where you can now find Miss D. lounging by the pool in the lanai or cruising in Pat’s new convertible. Life is good for these two gals, and Miss Daisy frequently visits the airport to greet Linda when she comes to visit. And they all lived happily ever after.
Adopted: Valentine's Day 20
04 - Nola (formerly Nikita)

Nola is one of the Borzoi / Saluki pups. Where would I begin to explain the joy she has brought to my life? Nola is a great dog and it seems she is always doing something that makes me laugh. I jokingly call her a diva dog, because she does the silliest things with her ears to make them fashion accessories and because she perches herself up on the back of the couch instead of sitting on it like one should. Nola absolutely loves to meet new people, she will rub her face against them while locking in direct eye contact then run her nose through their hair simply because she can't get enough of the smell of shampoo. Okay, that might make her weird but truly, she is an absolute sweetheart. Just days after I was approved to adopt Nola, my beloved Saluki lost her battle with cancer. No dog could ever replace another, but Nola certainly filled a void in my heart and helped me through the grieving process. Nola was such a good puppy that the house survived with only a section of carpet and an area of wall chewed up; at least the furniture was unscathed!
I renamed her Nola, a Celtic/Gaelic name that means "Noble" and for her middle name Gráinne, in Gaelic it means "Love" (since I adopted her on Valentine's Day). Her name suits her very well.
Thanks to everyone at Jersey Shore Animal Shelter for bringing this ray of sunshine into my life.

Adopted: August 2006 - Pennie (formerly Bubbles)

We adopted Bubbles, now Pennie, this week and we are the happiest family. She is such a wonderful, loving, good girl and a perfect addition to our household. We are so glad that this adoption went through and we were picked to be her new family. She has so much attention and love that she doesn't know what to do with it, but she's loving every minute of it. Here are some pictures of her enjoying her new home, relaxing and playing with her new toys.
Thank you again from our family,

Submitted: August 2006 - George and Al

Hi - Just wanted to share with you a photo of the two wonderful cats we adopted from Jersey Shore Animal Center. "George" (in the chair) we adopted from Jersey Shore Animal Center 16 (yes, 16!) years ago as a kitten and he is still in good health. He is dearly loved by our family. Our wonderful "Al" was adopted by us 2 1/2 years ago and he and George are such great buddies. Our lives have been tremendously enriched by the love we have received from these two wonderful animals. Thanks so much!

I found two adorable 4-year old cats at the Jersey Shore Animal Center. They are sisters and I was happy to adopt them both, especially because it meant they could stay together. They seem to like their new home and they are just delightful, playful cats. I am so happy their story has had a happy ending and they are able to stay together.

Adopted: May 2006 - Tarzan and Jane

Hello, we just wanted to update you on Tarzan and Jane, whom we adopted in May 2006. Since the first day of their arrival, they fit right into our family. The first night, Tarzan slept next to our 6 year old daughter in her bed and hasn't left her side since. Jane was a little more timid at first, but within a day or so, she was snuggling with my 9 year old son. We love them so much, it's like they've been living with us for years. We know that we were blessed to find such loving and beautiful cats, and we just want to say thank you for taking such good care of them while they were without a home. Sincerely, the Casella family. (Chris, Kristen, Joseph, Angeline, Vincent)
Adopted June 7, 2006 - Peanut (formerly Jenelle)

This cat is fantastic! We love her very much. She fits right into our family. She was immediately comfortable with us as a family, which is quite a feat because we have a 2 yr old and a 6 yr old. She loves to play and even drags her toys to us when she wants to play. She also loves to curl up on my husbands lap when he plays video games. She is a wonderful companion.
Thank you JSAC!

Adopted December 2005 - Coral and Gretal

Just wanted to write a quick note to let you know how Coral and Gretal are doing.
My cat, Patches, passed away December 9th, 2005. I loved her very much and I missed her alot. My mother took me and my older brother to the Jersey Shore Animal Shelter where we fell in love with two black cats named Coral and Gretal. Gretal came to me right from the start and then my brother found out that Coral
was her roommate. Coral was climbing up the cages and being a general menace.
He fell in love with Coral immediately.
My parents let us adopt Coral and Gretal right before Christmas. The first thing we
did was to help my Dad build a cat condo. Its 5ft tall, with 4 levels, with large cardboard tubes that the cats play in. I also gave up two of my Build A Bear beds for them to sleep in.
They sleep all day and chase each other all night throughout the house. Everyone in the house has fallen in love with them. Sometimes Coral sleeps on my Mom when she naps on the couch while watching television.

Adopted February 3, 2004 - Emmett (formerly Escapade)

My name is Lynda G. and I adopted one of the Borzuki pups, Emmett, formerly Escapade. Because of the efforts of Vicki K. (Sinbad/Romeo's mom) we have been in contact with all the littermate owners since the pups were little. In addition to getting the best dog I've ever had,I also got a great group of new friends scattered around the Northeast. Emmett is probably the largest of the pups standing 32" at the shoulder and weighing in at 85 lbs. Being a very stubborn pup led us to puppy class, which was followed by a year of advanced obedience. I can take him absolutely anywhere and people love him. He is so gorgeous, he actually stops traffic. Our doggie play group meets 2-3 times a week at a park within walking distance. His best friends are his sister Phoebe, Rory the Rottweiler, and Sasha the Corgi mix, but he gets along with all of them. We also recently adopted a cat, Charlie, from our localshelter and Emmett loves him, too. Emmett is a sweet, funny, loving boy and I simply cannot imagine life without him. I know you guys were reluctant to let me have him because we are so far away, and I wanted you to know that it was a good decision for everyone, especially Emmett. I'm attaching some pictures of my boy because I just can't help but be proud of him. Thank you for my beautiful boy.

Adopted: 2006 - Bailey (formerly Cocoa)

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to update you all on Bailey's (Cocoa) new life. He is quite happy now going for long walks, playing fetch, and romping with his "sister's" Sasha and Ruby. He is gaining weight now and has seen the vet, who gives him a clean bill of health. I will update you more as time goes on. Attached is a picture of the happy fella. Thank you for everything you are all wonderful people.
P.S. He also sleeps under a blanket with his head on a pillow. I have sent that picture as well.

Hi Guys,
Adopted: March 29, 2006 - Sadie

Hello, my name is Peggy and our family adopted Sadie on 3/29/06. She is a wonderful dog and we feel lucky to have adopted her. She is very smart, loving and very energetic! Thank you to everyone at Jersey Shore Animal Center (Brick) for helping choose her and having faith in our family & home. Here are a few pictures of our baby.
Love, Peggy
Adopted: February 2006 - Maxx (formerly Rocky)

Just a little note to let you know Maxx is doing well and we are head over heels in love with him. We adopted him from JSAC February 2006. He loves to play in the sink with our son. He also likes it when laundry is done so he can hop in and help. Maxx loves his toys and all the attention he gets. If he feels that we are not noticing him enough he will meow until someone picks him up. He doesn't like to sit on your lap but he really enjoys being carried around the house. Maxx loves to greet you at the door with a rub and a meow. Our house is now a home, thank you JSAC.

Adopted: April 2004 - Jack

being apart of our family, WE LOVE HIM TO DEATH and couldn't ask for a kinder, sweeter, or more lovable dog. He has a couple of cat siblings too...one of whom was also adopted from the JSAC in 2001 named Bart (such a sweetheart..he's already 5!) Jack has a nice fenced in yard that he runs around and plays with us in, and he loooooves his walks that he goes on at least twice a day. He loves his walks so much that we can't even say the word.."walk" unless we are planning on taking him for one...because the second he hears the word "walk" he runs to the front door swirling in circles (so cute)! He is very spoiled and gets a new toy at least once a month, and he sleeps with me in my bed every night. Thank you so much for giving us this amazing member of our family...he definitely completed it and I think we completed his!Amanda and the Entire Pitts family!!
Adopted: October 2004 - Ace
Hi! I just wanted to give you an update on Ace, the Belgian Malinois I adopted from JSAC in October of 2004. Ace is doing really well. His training to become an Urban Search and Rescue Canine with FEMA's Massachusetts Task Force (MATF-1) and the State of Connecticut (CTTF-1) is well underway. Of course, Ace doesn't know he's being trained for such an important job. He thinks it is all just play! His boundless energy and love for play make him PERFECT for the work! He seems to love training for his new "job," but most importantly he loves being a member of our family. And we love him too! Thank you JSAC for giving us the opportunity to adopt Ace and provide him with what we think is the perfect home - ours!
Thank you,
Konnie H. and Mark D.

Adopted: September 9, 2005 - Zoey (formerly Baby)
I adopted Zoey, "Baby" on September 9th, 2005 when she was only 3 months old. She is the sweetest little girl ever and is always purring when you play with her. She has so much energy and has such a personality on her! Her favorite things to do are lay in the sun, play "fetch" with a paper ball, and run around the house. She loves to get her tummy rubbed and absolutely loves attention. Thank you so much JSAC for bringing this precious baby into my life!
Adopted: July 2005 - Snips (formerly Hansel)
We adopted Hansel now his new name is Snips in July of 2005. Snips has been such a joy to have around. He loves to be held and spoken too. Snips has a doctor and has been neutered and been to all his check ups. Hansel (Snips) is going to be entered in the Cat Fancier's household cat show. We have received so many compliments about how precious he is that we thought we would take a chance. We will email back and let you know how the show went. I see that Hansel's sister Gretel was adopted. I am so happy.
Thank you so much for all you do over there at the shelter. I wish there were more people in this world like you all!!! Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to adopt Hansel. I am just so happy to know that Gretel and Hansel are in loving homes!!! Unfortunately we are renting and just could not take in both cats.
Thank you!

Adopted: 2004 - Chloe (formerly Babs)

I found my Chloe when I was looking for a kitten online at Petfinder. I spotted a long hair orange cat like the one I had for many years before and had passed away. I went to the shelter with the intent of bringing the kitten home. When I got there the kitten was already spoken for. I was so upset. So I went into the room where the older cats were. As I was holding a few cats (the cages are close) I kept feeling this tap on my shoulder. I finally turned around and there she was. Reaching her "arm" out as far as she could tapping me on the shoulder. Needless to say she came home with me and is the sweetest cat I have ever known. I was told she was a feral, but she constantly wants to be held. We think she just got outside of her home and no one looked for her. We are happy they didn't! She is the best thing that ever happened to us. Here she is enjoying her second Christmas with us.

Dear Jersey Shore Animal Center,

Adopted: 2005 - Tallulah (formerly Serena)

Almost a year ago, I was deperate in my search for a Siamese cat. I looked far and wide until through Pet Finder I found the picture of "Serena" at the
JSAC web site. There was a picture of her by herself, then there was a picture of her nursing the three babies she was found outside with. She looked at me from the picture with her mesmerizing blue eyes, and I knew I had to meet her. JSAC made it so easy(after checking me out with my vet and doing all the necesary precautions) that 3 days later I was on my way to meet and bring "Serena" home.
It didn't matter that she was "part" Siamese, what mattered was that she was ALL heart. I have had cats my whole life(or they have had me),and this cat, who I renamed Tallulah is the most loving of them all. She does not have one diva bone in her body. All she asks is to be loved. I know she did not have an easy life as a stray, and she seems to just be grateful for a warm seat, and a bowl of food. She talks a lot, and we think she may be a narcolept--she falls asleep mid-run!! She fit right in, and became best friends with our cat Sushi. They love one another so much. I can't say enough things about Tallulah--she made me life complete!!!

Adopted: November 14, 2005 - Dash (formerly Tuffy) and Lilly (formerly Cleo)

We adopted 2 cats on Nov 14th, 2005. I decided to adopt a cat after my 15 year old son begged me for a pet since he was old enough to talk! My husband and I went to your animal shelter a few days before his 15th birthday. My husband and I went to look at the your cats and we decided to adopt a kitten, but after seeing all of your adorable pets I couldn't walk away from an almost 2 year old female. We decided on a 12 week old grey kitten and a calico cat who was 1.5 years old. The day after my son's birthday we took him on a "mystery car ride". We pulled up to your parking lot and parked the car. I looked in the back seat and said "Isn't it your birthday?". He looked shocked, and had to collect himself saying "I know where we are just give me a minute". I thought he was going to cry. Seriously. We walked inside and they knew we were expected. They took what information was left, including our check, which in retrospect wasn't enough, and said "We'll be right back with your cats". My son, who is 5 feet 10 inches had to sit down because he was so emotional, and excited. They brought out the cat and the kitten in seperate carriers. My husband took one on his lap in the passager seat and my son took the kitten in the back seat. He talked to the kitten through the carrier the whole time, assuring him that he was ok. The bast part is that my husband and I were married only 1 month before this and on the way home my son said "Now we're really a family, it's like a new beginning". I want to thank you and your animal center for taking such good care of our "babies" before we could get there. Thank you for taking time to love them and play with them and care for them before we adopted them. I must tell you that after about 4 hours of meeting they became the best of friends. The older cat grooms the younger, they play, they romp and they seem as though they have been friends forever. When the kitten went in for neutering last week, and had to be apart from her, the cat sat outside his room, waiting for her frend to come out. I couldn't imagine better friends, and YOU can't imagine how much their love has meant to my son. He's an only child, and their presence has meant the world to him. He said he's even caught himself speaking to friends at a school the same way he speaks to the "babies". Very calmly and lovingly. Thank you, everyone, for the parts you played in my cats' young lives, for enriching their lives early, and for making my son's dreams come true.

Adopted: November 2005 - Lady

Everyone at JSAC,
This beautiful girl is Lady, we adopted her in November of 2005. She has got to be one of the most wonderful dogs (along with our 2 pugs) in the world. We decided not to change her name because she is a "Lady". Her first day home with us, she made herself comfortable on the couch with her new brother, Shooter, and her new sister, Kielee. Lady is 12 years old, and believe me she does not act like a senior, she has so much energy!!! Thank you for giving her a chance to find a home, we are the lucky ones.

Adopted: October 6, 2005 - Mooch (formerly Mander)
Mooch taking a nap
"A tale of two tails"
Mooch is on the left, Dillinger on the right
Dear Friends at JSAC,
Thank you so much for caring for our little Mooch (formerly Mander). Especially, a huge thank you to the angel who fostered him from 5 days of age. We had recently rescued a feral kitten from my husband's workplace (Northern State Prison in Newark) - his name is Dillinger. Since our older kitty, Rosie, was not really interested in playing with him, we decided to adopt a playmate for him from Jersey Shore Animal Center. We wanted a youngster about the same age and size as Dillinger, and we wanted another male. We saw lots of wonderful kitties, but fell in love with Mooch - he was almost exactly the same size and age as Dillinger, and your staff told us that he was playful. We've really enjoyed him since he's come to live with us - and Dillinger has, too! They chase one another, they wrestle, and they even nap together sometimes. Mooch especially likes a nap in a sunny window. And Rosie once again has her peace and quiet.

Adopted: 2004 - Harlee (formerly Peaches)

I would love it if U would like to place me in the happy endings page. I am sure my mother Lisa V. would love it too. Every day I thank the doggie god for my mother . No better could take better care of me as she does. As they say dog look like there owners, my family has a bond through our knees. I started out with 2 knees being operated on, My dad is having his knee operated on in Jan and the left to follow in Feb. And mom is scheduled to start physical therapy for her knees. And I thank everyone in the shelter who took such loving care of me in extended stay @ the shelter and all your hard fund raising for my first knee surgery. All your love helped become the loving pet I am today. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Adopted: October 2004 - Xena

We adopted Xena in October 2004 and she is an absolute joy! As you can see, she is very happy - and so are we! Thank you all for taking such great care of all the animals.
Danette & David M.
Adopted: 2004 - Hally
We walked into the shelter to rent a trap from you to capture a feral stray that was sick in our yard... and fell in love with our Hally. She was sickly and being fostered by a wonderful staff member with a big heart... you knew that keeping her in with the general population was bad for her, and for the other lovely animals there. Once we took her home, and to the vet for tests... it turned out our girl has allergies! She's got the personality of five cats, all in a compact 8 pound package now that she's fully grown and we feel blessed to have her. Thank you Jersey Shore for our Hally. Even her name was perfect... so we didn't have to change it.
Thanks,
Layla and John
Adopted: September 9, 2005 - Finster (formerly Frank)

I adopted "Frank" from JSAC on September 9th, 2005 to help myself heal from the loss of another cat, "Finster" , whom I love very much. His face and a lot of his mannerisms are very similar to the original Finster so I felt comfortable renaming him "Finster" also. My one year old male, Nermal, is particularly attached to little Finster and even allows him to try to nurse off of him. Here they are napping together on my rocking chair. There are also 2 pics of him alone asleep on the rocker.
Thank You Very Much For Little Finster (Formerly "Frank")

Hanna (formerly "Julianna") adopted August 2004
Chip (formerly "Toby") adopted August 2004
Maddy (formerly "Baby Poe") adopted November 2002

Dear JSAC,
We want to thank you for taking such good care of us while each of us were waiting for our new home! Mommy and Daddy LOVE to spoil us :-) . Along with our brother, Toby (who was adopted from another rescue), we love to sit in the windows watching birds all day and then go for car rides. Our neighbors talk about us because we like to go for walks on our leashes, but we don't mind! It's good exercise for us.
Mommy and Daddy talk to us all the time, and call us their "furry children." We think that they are really happy we took over their home. We hope that all of our friends at JSAC find their family soon so they can be as happy as we are.
Hugs and Kisses to everyone at JSAC,

Adopted: April 30, 2005 - Coco

Dear JSAC,
This is Leigh. My family adopted CoCo two weeks ago on April 30th 2005. When we first met her she was very shy and timid, but that has since passed. After we took her home she ran straight to my room, the farthest part of our house. It took many hours to coax to her even come out to the room to eat or go to the bathroom. My dad finally had to pick her up so she would go out. After that Coco became comfortable roaming the house, she had not met my dad before then, but she instantly warmed up to him. We gradually introduced her to her new home, her backyard, and her eating place. My brother Drew, CoCo and I are the best of friends, she rarely leaves our sides and she still sleeps in my room. We play with her after school and walk her everyday. My mother plays with her during the day. She loves running outside. She enjoy the attention that everyone gives her. She knows how to get into your heart (and closet). She loves hugs, being told that shes a "good girl" or "pretty girl" and food. She has been amazing, she allowed two of our neighbors to pet her and she was comfortable going in and out of the car on trips to my grandpa's house. If you remember our toy poodle Missy and how they interacted, they are still getting along for the most part. Missy still has control over the house and allows CoCo to join her for dinner. I have taken some pictures of CoCo and my brother playing together and they are included at the end of this update. We were very lucky to be allowed to adopt CoCo, she is the sweetest animal. She is still afraid of sudden movement and loud noises. We are taking her for training next week. We are very happy with CoCo and are glad to give her our wonderful home.

Adopted: July 1996 - Cricket (Formerly Paulie)
I adopted my cat CRICKET 9 years ago, July 1996, his name at the time was PAULIE. I don't have a picture available at this time but will get one in shortly. Cricket is a healthy, happy, and very energetic cat with an extreme personality (I couldn't ask for a better pet). There are few people who don't take well to cats, however, Cricket is able to sense this and always makes EVERYONE adore him. My cat is very loved by the entire family and he returns the love right back---I'm very happy I made the perfect decision to adopt from Jersey Shore Animal Center, and gave Cricket a chance to live his life with a loving family.
MICHELLE C. from Toms River, NJ
Adopted: March 2005 - Johnny Damon
We adopted Johnny Damon on Tuesday, March 22, 2005. He now lives in our home, in Toms River, with his older brother Baxter. Johnny seems happy in his new home. He loves to run around and play with all his toys. He especially loves to run around and follow his brother Baxter. Johnny can sometimes be a clown, and likes to be the center of attention. When ever I go out with my husband, when we come home, both Johnny and Baxter are at the door, eager to greet us. Thank you, for taking such good care of Johnny.
Adopted: April 2004 - Speedy
Speedy was with us at JSAC for over a year before he found his new forever home. He now lives with Harley and Shadow, both of whom were also adopted from JSAC.
